Toolbox talks are short, focused safety briefings delivered to workers on site. Done properly, they're one of the most effective ways to prevent accidents. Done badly, they're a box-ticking exercise that nobody remembers.
What is a Toolbox Talk?
A toolbox talk is a brief (10-15 minute) safety discussion focused on a single topic. They're delivered by a supervisor or site manager, usually at the start of a shift or before a specific activity.
How Often?
Most principal contractors require weekly toolbox talks as a minimum. High-risk activities should have task-specific briefings before work starts.
